Has anyone experienced issues with the NetSuite ODBC driver and linked server? We went live on NetSuite at the beginning of this year but because we rely on a different reporting tool to provide our management reports we have to use NetSuite ODBC and linked server functions to pull data from NetSuite into our SQL Server. We created SSIS packages that bring this data over to our SQL server but in doing so we are running into major SQL dumps on our server. Our DBAs have been back and forth between NetSuite and Microsoft for over 8 weeks now trying to resolve this issue, but with no luck. Microsoft is interpreting the issue as a problem with the NetSuite ODBC driver, but NetSuite Support fails to provide any guidance as to what in their driver is causing the issue. In our own testing, we think the dumps are caused by the linked server (which also uses ODBC) but we’re not 100% sure if that is truly the case, and if so, how to fix it. Any help from the user group would be extremely appreciated.

    Thank you!

We mainly use the linked server to take an overnight copy of the data for reporting purposes, dropping each table and recreating it. Timeouts are the only issue we’ve had but it doesn’t happen that often and we can live without the reports for a day.

We do also use it on our intranet for ‘live stock’ queries and have had few queries (that I know of)

Thanks DBL. Seven months into this issue and NetSuite support was finally able to replicate the issue, but still has not provided a solution. For the time being we are using the OPENQUERY workaround (rather than the linked server) but that is proving to be inefficient. We need to pull data out of NetSuite several times a day, and waiting 2 hours on an extract is unacceptable for our management. If anyone else had this issue please let me know what course of action you took to solve it. Thank you!

This is a very interesting post. Does anybody know how to duplicate the linked server so we can have our NetSuite database stored on our local server?

DBL or anyone else. Can they provide details on how they were able to backup their database through the Linked Server
