jepi2012I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or if I can even explain it.
I created two reports in NetSuite, both very basic. One is based on Lead Count and the other on Opportunity Transactions, so they both total. When I hit preview, I get exactly what I’m looking for in terms of the count (for example, my report is calculating the sales each month based on lead source). In the preview mode, it totals by lead source. If I hit Save and it goes back to the view mode, it lists each instance of a lead source, so I will have multiple listings for any particular lead source with the total.
Does anyone know why NetSuite is doing this? And unfortunately, I need to schedule these reports to be emailed, which it emails the saved version and not the preview version that I need.
thanks!

Paul7337RE: Why does my report view change after I save it?
Hi Jepi,
It does sound like a strange one, NS shouldn’t do that, as far as I know.
Are you sure this is a report, not a saved search? Either way, probably the best way is..
In Report:
Save the report, once you have the ungrouped and undesired version that gets generated, go to ‘customise’ at the bottom, in the ‘columns’ section, make sure the results you need have the correct ‘summary’ function (this is found at the bottom), it will be ‘group’ on text results and ‘sum’ on numbers. You might need to group with previous column, too, to get the desired result. If the preview is as you need it to be, save it and it should be ok then. You can’t group text result that are different though, so if for example you were generating results where ‘name’ might be ‘dave’, ‘geoff’, ‘fred’, they can’t group, so you would have to take out the name column, and only have the numbers column, which could then summarise (if you really needed the text, this might be where ‘group with previous column’ would come into play). Hope that makes some sense.
In Search:
On the saved search, hit ‘Edit this search’, choose ‘results’ tab, and make sure that all text results (account, name, etc) are grouped and all numbers (transaction quantity, etc) are ‘sum’.
It could be that in either format, one of the columns CAN’T be grouped for whatever reason. I would strip it to its bare elements, see if it groups, then add extra until I found what was causing it to split into different rows.
Hope it helps…

jepi2012RE: Why does my report view change after I save it?
Hi Paul,
It is a report I built using ReportBuilder. I have two columns – Lead Source and Total. The report is grouped by Month. It totals at the bottom with a grand total. The numbers in the column would total based on lead source (for instance, Email would have 65 total, Web would have 143 total, and so on). That is in the preview mode. As soon as I hit Save, the preview changes to count each lead source instance individually, so instead of totaling 65 email lead source references, it will count each one until I have this huge list.
I’m not sure why it is doing that.
thanks for your reply!

Paul7337Hi again,
Try this:
1)
Column 1 Month
Column 2 Lead Source (Grouped)
Column 3 Total
2)
Click Column 2 and group it with month
3)
Click Column 3 and make sure summary type dropdown is ‘Count’
4)
Make sure column 3 has add Grand Total ticked
5)
On FILTERS, have only one filter: Lead Date (can type that straight into search to find)
End display will show:
‘Report Component = Lead Count’
‘Field = Lead Date’
Date Range = Previous one year
6)
On SORTING, only one criteria: Start Date (can type that straight into search to find)
End display will show:
‘Report component = First sale period’
‘First sale period = start date’
That should work…

jepi2012Hi Paul,
I actually contacted NetSuite about this, and they suggested using the Matrix report, which yielded the results I needed. Thank you for your help!
