I have a report that recently began timing out. Support suggested I use ODBC since there are no timeout restrictions. Yesterday I purchased the ODBC package (Enterprise Reporting) and I’m trying to duplicate the report that was timing out.

The report was a cusomization of the sales by item detail report that included EVERY line of all transactions over a date range. The output columns included 2 fields from about 10 different custom records.

When I use Microsoft Query Builder in Excel to add in the Transactions Transactions_Lines table I can get all my records.

The problem occurs when I need a better decription of my custom record than simply the record’s ID. I figured the best way to do this would be to add in the custom record table and link the ID from the Transaction_Lines table to the ID in the custom record table and then add the fields from my custom record table to the output for better descriptions.

However, when I run the report I am “only” getting transaction lines that have a value in the custom record ID field and I still want ALL transactions to show up.

I hope I have been clear in outlining my problem. I’m not an expert (or a novice for that matter) with SQL so I’m using Microsoft Query in Excel.
