CailynMI am having trouble with UPC codes on import. Even those I save the file as .CSV, the field is still bringing the data in truncated. Any tips?
Thank you
Cailyn

davecrouch04Hi Cailyn,
You mean something like this? Internal ID
UPC Code
Name15475
8.247E+11
101-123780
8.247E+11
102-122674
8.247E+11
103L-122774
8.247E+11
106-1This would be cause by the formatting of the cell in Excel.

BHackerI think what the previous post was trying to get at, is the fact that when you edit a CSV file, it messes with the formatting on large number values and it creates issues when you utilize the import function.
If you're working from a CSV formatted file to start with, try saving it as a regular Excel file first, then go ahead and check all of your UPC values and make sure they're not truncated. Then save as a CSV and do NOT mess with any of the UPC fields in the file. Then try uploading the new CSV directly. This should alleviate the issue.

al3xicon+1 for BHacker 's solution – this is how I have been handling my UPC uploads as well and it does work.

OneITGuyAlso, quick tip on changing the scientific notation for an entire column. Highlight the column>Format Cells>Custom Select 0. The entire column will change to the full UPC vs 8.247E+11 . Save as .XLSX, then save a CSV version.

michoelAnother tip for working with CSV files in Excel to avoid Excel trying to automatically format the data – instead of opening the file directly, first open Excel and use 'Text Import Wizard' (on the Data tab, in the Get External Data group, click From Text). In Step 3, select all your columns and choose Text as the data format.
