    Hey guys,

I had everything working perfect on my WinXP PC.

    Until I loaded Crystal Reports.

Then I started getting the following with Excel:

    Code:
Error Connecting to Database: ERROR [IM003]

Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 998 (NetSuiteODBCDriver).
I’ve removed the OpenSSL and NetSuite ODBC program and re-installed them. I also removed Crystal Reports. But I still get the same error whether I use Excel or my pre-compiled VB.net program which calls the Netsuite.com driver directly.

    Has anybody seen this before?

    Thanks,

    Shanon

We are having the same issue with the new ODBC driver. It works on some computers, but on others we are getting โ€œDIAG [IM003] Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 998 (NetSuiteODBCDriver)โ€

Any ideas why this is happening?

Window System Error 998 is an Invalid access to memory location.

Was something installed after the ODBCDriver was installed? Does reinstalling the driver make a difference? If the driver works on some machines, but not others, what are the differences between the machines?

We will need as much information about your particular environment so that we can properly recreate and test this issue. Please file a case and explain your environment. Instead of providing a list of all software that is installed on a single machine, if you can install and successfully run the driver on a machine that is not fully set up(missing some core applications), a list of missing software should be enough.

I spent a great deal of time last week fighting with this. When all was said and done, it turned out that the ODBC driver was not the problem. The SSL encryption package was not the most up to date, and this caused our failure. Once we removed and installed the latest package, it worked fine.

The error you are getting is a generic error- try using the ODBC for excel- if it still gives you the same error, try looking at your SSL package.

Are you using ODBC driver when logged in as a Windows Administrator?

    Maybe this will help others.

I rebooted, and hit F8 repeatedly until I got the option to start up in Safe Mode. I chose “Safe Mode with Networking Support”. Then I Logged into my “Shanon” account which is also an Administrator of the PC.

Once it came up in safe mode, I uninstalled both the OpenSSL and the Netsuite ODBC driver. Then reinstalled both. I had left CR installed.

Now Excel, Crystal Reports, and my custom VB.net app are working as expected.

    Hope this helps,

    Shanon

Good To know, shannon, that is essentially what we had to do. Updating the SSL package is kind of downplayed, but very vital.

Thanks for posting this.. We’ve had the same error code and have been trying everything under the sun to figure out a fix. Oddly enough booting into safe mode was the key. We uninstalled and reinstalled both OpenSSL and the ODBC drivers numerous times as a local Admin but never in safe mode. Thanks again for the post!!

    RE: System error 998 (NetSuiteODBCDriver).

    Hi All,

I’m still getting the “Error Connecting to Database: Error IM003 Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 998 (NetsuiteODBCDriver)” error even after restarting, uninstalling and reinstalling the OpenSSL and NetSuite ODBC driver in a “Safe mode with Networking Support”. I did this logging in with my user account (has admin priviledges) and again as the Administrator

I’m getting this on a system with Windows XP SP2, Crystal Reports XI R2, Win32 OpenSSL v0.9.8g Light, NetSuiteODBC driver (just downloaded from website) & Microsoft Office 2007 installed. I get the error when I try to connect through either Excel or CR.

    Any ideas ?.

    Thanks.
