I’ve scheduled multiple reports and searches for ending balances to run on the first day of the month at midnight, 1AM, 2AM, etc. They all are created in a timely manner on the 2nd of each month. This has happened consistently since I set them up a year ago. I think it’s because to get a balance (inventory, cash, etc.) the system can’t create a report showing the balance for that day until that day is done. I actually want to know the balance as of the end of the month, but can find a way to schedule it for the last day, since months have 28, 30 or 31 days.

Does anyone have the answer to what must be a simple question?

Not sure on this, but I’d set them to run at midnight on the 1st of a new month, and have the report generate numbers for the previous month (that way you get everything at month end). Does this make sense?

Yeah, that’s what I’ve done, starting with midnight until 3AM. It still doesn’t run until early hours of the day after the first.
