This is more a curious post than a problem. Has anyone noticed that when sending emails from saved searches, you can seemingly put anything in the “From” field? I’ve frequently sent emails out from something like which is an email address that doesn’t even exist.

Could someone theoretically use this to spoof email addresses?

The emails from the system are essentially spoofed already. It could be used maliciously, I suppose, but the functionality is valuable.

For one of my clients, we do something similar. All their automated Saved Search emails come from ‘NetSuite Reports ‘, which clearly does not exist.

I think its definitely a useful feature, and we do the same thing with , but it just seemed odd to me that they would allow you to do this. I’ve been testing with a few different email severs, and I’ve yet to find a server and email address combination that bounces the email out as spam. I’ve spoofed my own gmail and company address, as well as pulled of a successful prank on my boss sending an email from his future self back to himself.

Just thought it was a bit odd that this was even possible through Netsuite.

I noticed that too from the Saved Search perspective and it is a great feature. I create reports/searches to send a status report to clients on daily/weekly basis and set the from as being “support@ourcompany.com”.

However I cannot set the “from” field when using a Report. Does anyone know of an alternative solution for the Reports “from” field? Netsuite said this is an enhancement request
