Olivier Gagnon NCRE: Revenue Hierarchy
If you’re talking about child accounts, then those can be pretty easily added.
However, you may have in mind something more akin to Class and Departments, that is to say a layer of information attributed to GL hits which the need for physical accounts.
Since this is Income, I’m tempted to think the latter would be more suitable, since if you simply add new accounts, you would need to create new items which would be a pretty invasive process.
If you simply add these levels as metadata to the GL impacts, it’ll require much less retooling of other processes.

DobesJLThanks Olivier for getting back to me so quickly; it is greatly appreciated! Can this information be uploaded with an ort file (table mapping for the levels)? Or would have to manually map the new fields? I only ask since we have quite a bit of new breakouts for the New Year.

I’m not sure what you mean by “table mapping” and “mapping the new fields”. It might be a concept that does not translate well into NetSuite paradigm. Can you expand on what you mean by this step?

Oooh, I see.
Well, NetSuite does not support what you are trying to do here, unfortunately.
It could be done as a custom thing using Journal entries, but it would be SUPER messy and I really don’t recommend it. Maybe a month-end process where you run a batch process, which at that point, it reclassifies all your income based on a given allocation schedule. That might work better, but I’d still recommend you drop this idea unless it’s REALLY important to you.

DobesJLOlivier -Thank you for your insights. I’ll investigate some additional work around. In your experience how long do enhancements like this take to work through the system? I won’t hold you to a timeline.
Enhancement # – 171915
Summary: Item Record > Allow editing of item’s account without having to reopen closed periods.
Best Regards,
Jeremy

Enhancements in general take years. That particular enhancement has been around for several years. I doubt it will ever be released due to its logical and programmatic complexity.

DobesJLThank you Olivier – I’ll work towards the work around then in that case. Due to the complexity of the business I donโt think we can book the entries at the deeper levels but I can understand the issues around attempting to build this into a system. Iโm thinking best bet might be to tie revenue levels to the “internal id”. Hopefully, I can build in the “internal id” on the invoice level to export the data into excel on all invoices and pivot the data monthly.
Best Regards,
Jeremy

DobesJLGood Morning Olivier,
Quick question – is there a way to build a report that will export internal Id and revenue for the month or a given period?
Example of Internal ID from Above:
Internal ID 116
Name FSA
Display Name Monthly Administrative Fee-FSA
Description Monthly Administrative Fee-FSA
Type Non-inventory Item
Goal is to build out the Revenue Hierarchy in excel but unsure how to export the Internal ID codes and revenue tied to each code – Is this possible?
Best Regards,
Jeremy

In a report – no.
In a Saved Search – yeah, super easy. Literally pull these columns out.
