lrice@biomonde.comI have a requirement to import customers sales transactions for the previous financial year so the sales team can view sales trends.
I was considering importing them as cash sales due to the minimum impact it will have and the fact that they don’t require payments.
This is fine but my concern is in the reporting.
These transactions will not show up in any Sales (Orders) reports. I assume that is simply because there is no Sales Order.
Does anyone know of a method of ensuring that the transactions appear in all types of Sales Revenue reports i.e. both Sales & Sales Orders.
I was thinking of importing the same data as closed sales orders but I am unsure of the impact this will have.
Any suggestions would be welcome!

dbrault@eemaxinc.comWe went live one year ago and faced this same decision. Ultimately we ran out of time and chose to import closed sales orders because they had no impact on the financials.
So it was easy to get the data in but it makes the reporting a little cumbersome. Any sales report that compares to the prior year must have some logic that pulls invoice data for the current year and then closed sales orders and possibly invoices for the previous year. One tip we were given by Netsuite was to set up a custom field when we imported the closed sales orders called “Legacy Sales Order”. A checkbox field that made it easy to identify these orders.
The downside to this is that the sales team can’t keep it straight that they can get current year sales data out of netsuite, but if they want any comparison they have to use the custom reports we set up.
If you would like to see the saved searches we used, let me know.

lrice@biomonde.comRE: Reporting on imported historical transactions
Thanks David
I was hoping to use the standard Netsuite reports but I guess you have just confirmed this will not be possible!
Maybe I could import them as Cash Sales AND Closed Sales Orders to ensure they appear on both reports!
An example of a Saved Search you used would be useful. I think it would give me an idea of the work involved for creating custom reports versus bringing in 2 transactions per order.
Thanks a lot for your response.
