mparisi101Does anyone know of any way within Netsuite or with a third party tool that would allow you to create PDFs from custom record types that have been created within Netsuite?
We are trying to make a report that would be able to be printed as a PDF that could be presentable to our customers.

tlewis360RE: Reporting engine to make PDFs from Custom records?
You can use SuiteScript to search the records, prepare a results set and use the XMLtoPDF function to produce a report from that.
Hope that helps!

ameyer32We have used the BFO (Big Faceless Organization) interface extensively to create custom PDF documents based on data we have in NetSuite. I’m not sure exactly what you’re trying to do, but I’ll describe one of the capabilities we developed and if you’re interested, please email me and I’ll send you some examples and more information.
As background, we have over 3,000 clients for whom we do work annually. In order to do our work, we have several hundred pieces of custom customer information on our customer record and there are about 40 pieces of information we need to have verified by the customer every year using annual questionnaires.
Essentially, we’ve create a capability to loop through our customer records and based on several parameters, create the customer questionnaires and email them. The customers’ can then verify or update the data on the questionnaires and email them back to us. We then import that data back into NetSuite to update our customer records. Note: There are some customers who do not have email, so these we print and mail these.
We are wildly proud of this for a couple reasons:
1. It allows us to gather and track far more information far more accurately then we ever could otherwise.
2. We tried verifying this information through portals and online forms, but what we found is that some percent of customer (3 to 5%) have trouble doing things online because of proxy or firewall issues. Additionally, there was a lot of resentment when we wanted customers to remember login information for something they use once or twice a year.
3. Our PDF forms are in color. (Love that!)
4. We are adding functionality to change the color of a field if a customer edits that field. That way, when we get the forms back, it’s really easy to tell if fields have been updated or not.
We have several derivations off of this process, but you get the idea. If this is something you’re interested in, please contact me via email. (andrewm@qbillc.com)
