Is there any way to create filters with a free form text box instead of a drop down? This is quite frustrating when you have to scroll through tons of choices to get to the customer / project / GL Account / employee / etc that you want to filter on. Furthermore, since the drop down lists are sorted by ID number, the order can be completely illogical (instead of perhaps alphabetical by name). Does anyone know how to achieve this? If there were just a text box, then you could perhaps type in %john% or %company abc% etc to get the one you want?

I don’t know how to make a filter a different type of field but the lists being sorted by ID was extremely frustrating for us as well. To get around it we are putting the name (customer, employee, vendor) in the ID field rather than the name field and having auto generated ID’s. You have to make the ID and the customer or vendor company name identical but by doing this our lists now show in alphabetical order which we have found to be much more user friendly.

    Hi,

The filter will show as a list/record by default when referencing records in NetSuite, however there is a workaround. For the filters to show up as text field you would have to use join fields in your search filters.

Example : If you are doing a transaction search and would like to filter by customer, having “Name” as a filter will show a list/record while having “Customer (Main Line) : Name/ID” will show a text field allowing you to type the customer name.

The same logic applies if you are trying to include the employee as a filter. Using the “Employee” field will show up in the filter region as a list/record field while using “Employee : Name” will show up as a text field.

Using this logic with any other field will help when filtering through your saved searches.

    Hope this helps!
