mhuffmanIn NetSuite v2010 release 1, we are releasing a new version of the ODBC driver for Windows. This update resolves a number of SQL92 syntax limitations of the previous version (see sneak peek and release notes for more details.)
I would like to invite any current NetSuite ODBC users to install and try out the new version of the driver in advance of the general release date.
This is NOT a beta – it is the final release version, has been thoroughly tested and we don’t anticipate problems; this is just an opportunity to try it out in advance of the release date.
If you would like to participate in the preview of the new driver, please send me a PM here on the UG and I will send you the install files and instructions.
This is a cached copy. Click here to see the original post. -

JMUnderwoodRE: Preview new version of NS ODBC driver
Malin,
I am logged in to an account that has been upgraded to 2010.1 and I want to make sure I am downloading the latest ODBC version.
When I click on the Home > Settings > Download ODBC Driver it takes me to the “Download ODBC Driver” page. Clicking on the Download the NetSuite ODBC Driver Install Client link prompts me to download “NetSuiteODBCDriver.exe”. There is nothing displayed to indicate which version is being downloaded.
How to I make sure I have the latest ODBC version?
There is another link, Please click here to complete this installation before using the ODBC driver, that takes you to http://www.slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html, which presents you with several OpenSSL versions to download.Which version of OpenSSL should we download?
Does it matter if my system is 32-bit or 64-bit?There is a Win32 Light version
There is a Win64 Developer version
But no Win64 Light versionThanks for your help.

mhuffmanThe new version is not publicly available for download yet. Both versions of the driver will be available for download starting later in the 2010.1 rollout. Approximately a month later, the older version will be removed from the download page, and all users will need to install the new driver by late July.
The new version will not require a separate SSL install like the old one did.
Both old and new versions of the driver are 32-bit. There are not plans yet for a 64-bit version.

mhuffmanThe new 6.0 driver is now available for download to all users who have been upgraded to version 2010 release 1, under Home>Download ODBC Driver.
If you have not yet been upgraded, check back after your upgrade date later this month and you should be able to download the new driver.
The old driver will remain available for download for the next month or so; it will then be removed and all users will need to transition to the new driver by July 23. After that, the old driver will no longer function.

mhuffmanehorwitz – your account is live on v2010 release 1, so you can download the new 6.0 driver under Home>Download ODBC Driver.

Malin, I installed Office 2010 64 bit (RTM, not beta) and receive the following error when trying to use my existing sql in Excel 2010.
“the specified dsn contains an architecture mismatch between the driver and application”.
I think this may have something to do with the fact the office 2010 (my version) is 64 bit?

rnedelkowHi Chris,
The current driver is not 64 bit compatible. We are tracking this in Enhancement 116231.
Thanks,
Rob

Rob, does that mean that it won’t run on any 64-bit system?
We have many users upgrading to Win 7 x64.

We are running it on Win 7 64 bit no problem. The apps need to be 32 bit, ie don’t install the new Office 2010 64 bit, make sure you install the 32 bit version.

Downloaded new ODBC driver version 6. Uninstalled version 5.5. The new version was configured as User DSN; whereas the previous version was installed as System DSN. Is this what it was supposed to? After having the network guy to open port 1708 for me; telnet command keeps giving me “Connecting to odbcserver.netsuite.com… Could not open connection to the host, on port 1708: Connect failed” error message.
What am I missing? We don’t have to uninstall “OpenSSL” , do we?

I got thetelnet port opened. Testing the NetSuite ODBC driver 6.0 failed and threw me this msg (OpenAccess SDK:2310).
Code:
[DataDirect][ODBC OpenAccess SDK Driver][OpenAccess SDK Client]TCP/IP, connection reset by peer
—I figured out what was missing: The “Encrypted” box needs to be checked.

AdamRE: Preview new version of NS ODBC driver
Hi All,
I have installed the latest version for the ODBC Driver and I get the following error.
OpenAccess SDK ODBC Driver Error
[DataDirect][ODBC OpenAccess SDK driver][P[emAccess SDK SQL Engine] Unexpected error, please contact support for assistance.[0]
This is becuase I am using MS Office 2010 and it is not compatable.
There is a defect raised for this:
Defect #181429 – ODBC>ODBC driver 6.0>Using MS EXCEL 2010>OpenAccess SDK ODBC Driver Error
NetSuite workaround to this is:
WORKAROUND: Downgrade to MS office 2007 or MS office2003
Pretty frustrating – it’s as if NetSuite don’t realise Microsoft brings out new versions of their software from time to time.
Out of interest are there other ways of using ODBC to get NetSuite data other than using Excel or Crystal Reports? Such as SQL server or any webservices. Can this be done using ODBC connection in Visual Studio using C# or something similar?
Thanks
