7HUserHi All,
I am not sure if we are doing something wrong for connecting via ODBC for enterprise reporting. Can someone please help !!
Firstly, we noticed 2 things which are in the documentation which are not there in the application
1. NetSuite documentation refers to enable a. Enterprise Reporting Views &
b. ODBC Connections for Advanced Reporting but we don’t see Enterprise Reporting Views in the enable features. Are we missing any license?
2. We are using Crystal Reports for enterprise reporting and the process in the document says “Select the NetSuiteODBCDriver and click Connect.” but when we use the application, we see the datasource as netsuite.com and not NetSuiteODBCDriver.
Anyway, when we try to connect to enterprise views by enabling ‘ODBC Connections for Advanced Reporting ‘ and using the data source as netsuite.com, we are able to see the table and fields but when we drag the fields to the details block in the crystal reports and preview the report (we used the simple view LOCATIONS to view the locations created, we get the error as “The database table โLOCATIONSโ cannot be found. Proceed to remove this table from the report”. Can someone please help why we are gettting this issue.
Thanks in advance,
Nirmal

smudgiebottomHi,
I’m not sure about Crystal, but Excel sometimes wants the “Show System Tables” turned on, in order for tables to be ‘visible’ (even though they already were). This setting was in the ODBC settings on the Import Data Wizard in Excel, so it may be there for Crystal as well. Try it, can’t hurt!

7HUserRE: ODBC Issue
Hi Matt,
Thanks for the reply but I tried using ODBC using the excel but we get the following error “Unable to obtain list of tables from the data source” after we select the data source as NetSuite.com.
By the way, where do we setup the “Show System Tables” as turned on. I checked the options in the excel but I don’t see this. I use Excel 2003 version.

smudgiebottomIt’s all probably a moot point with the new ODBC driver to kick in from tomorrow now anyway.
When we select ‘Import Data’ in Excel and select the Netsuite DSN and look at the list of tables which appears (which is sometimes empty), there is an Options button on the bottom left of that Excel Import Data Wizard window. Click on that, then toggle the Show System Tables checkbox and see if it helps. Did the trick for us over the last three months…
Cheers,
Matt

mhuffmanPlease see my post below for an update… in response to feedback, we have managed to extend the operation of the old ODBC driver beyond Nov. 29. This will give us all a better chance to become more comfortable with, and iron out issues with, the new driver.
