NetSuite has released a new and improved version of our ODBC driver, available immediately.

We are excited about the enhancements in this upgrade, including:Better SQL-92 syntax support, such as support for CASE and inner select statements.
Open SSL is now ‘native’ to the driver. No separate security software installation is required.
Improved compatibility with standard ODBC-compliant applications such as Microsoft Excel and Crystal Reports.
Company and role may now be selected during ODBC login (only available in certain ODBC-compliant applications.)
You may now create multiple database source files (DSNs), one for each company/role.
NetSuite will be better able to monitor status and performance of our ODBC servers.

Please consult the Setting Up Enterprise Reporting Views help file for instructions on downloading and installing the new driver.

The process should take no more than a few minutes, and is even easier than before (as noted above, you no longer have to install Open SSL separately.)

IMPORTANT: As of November 30, you will no longer be able to connect using the old version of the ODBC driver. At that time, you will need to install the new version of the driver to continue using NetSuite ODBC connectivity. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this quick, but necessary transition to the new version.

A few other important notes:To continue using the old version of the driver until November 30, consult the section “Maintaining Access to the Previous NetSuite ODBC Driver” in the PDF help file.
If you were invited to participate in our ‘live beta’ program over the past few weeks, and installed the new driver, you do NOT need to re-install it. All code changes we have made since are on the server side.
If you are still using the old Enterprise Reporting feature (using “putty” to establish a direct database connection) rather than the ODBC driver, the November 30 cutoff date does not apply. However, I do recommend you download and begin working with the new driver, as one of the goals in releasing this new driver version is to fully replace the old Enterprise Reporting feature in the near future.

If you encounter any issues with the installation or running your queries with the new version of the driver, please contact customer support immediately. Our team is standing by to address any issues that may arise, to make the transition to the new driver as smooth as possible.

RE: New version of ODBC Driver – Update

    Update-

Based on your feedback and concerns about being able to successfully complete this transition in time, NetSuite has arranged (at considerable expense) to extend operation of the old ODBC driver so you will be able to continue to use it for the foreseeable future. With this new timeline we anticipate being able to provide much more advance notice when the upgrade becomes mandatory.

The 2007 ODBC driver is available to use alongside the old version. We encourage you to continue testing your ODBC applications and queries with it and provide feedback through customer support. This will help us continue to refine the new driver and lead to a superior ODBC product for your use in the future.

If you have not yet installed the new driver, consult the Setting Up Enterprise Reporting Views help file for instructions on how to download and install the new driver, and how to set up your system to use both versions of the driver at the same time.

We apologize for any anxiety or inconvenience the transition, as announced, may have caused.
