Is it possible to get the new ODBC driver for Linux?
This is a cached copy. Click here to see the original post.

We currently do not support a linux ODBC driver.

    Shoot.

Looks like Open Access Software has a Unix Driver:

Will that work or is the interface proprietary to Netsuite?

$995 is awful expensive for something that NS is giving away to Windows users

    Thanks,

    Shanon

Supporting the linux driver for NS would require NS to incur additional licensing costs for linux. The license requirement is both a server side license support and client side. Downloading a non-windows driver and installing it will not work because NS still needs the server side linux driver support.

Is NS giving it away ? or do you have to purchase the ODBC module.? I thought it was the latter.

You need to purchase the ODBC module to access ODBC.

You are right, a Windows client driver is downloadable from the user portal so I said **free**, the ODBC module is a significant extra expense to the customer.

The old Oracle client was free from Oracle (and an open protocol). All I need is a new key on the old server and I think I could have made that work But a doc I got said it is going away in the future.

From what I can tell, the new driver is using a proprietary protocol. I wouldn’t mind paying a one-time license fee for a Linux client. $995 is pretty steep, maybe NS could broker some kind of price reduction from the driver vendor? Prices we are paying per month for the module, NS take that hit easily.

Only good thing I see about the new driver now is that it is a lot easier to install (Windows Only) than the old Oracle one. But not perfect, the installer for the required Openssl failed because I already had an older version of a certain dll on my PC. Had to ignore an error and replace it manually.

We will likely make a Linux version available in the future, though I can’t provide an exact date – subject to dev and QA resources to test it and create an installer.

Hi. Is a Linux version of the ODBC driver available yet?

    Thanks, Rula

You can vote for Enhancement 112864 and receive notification when it becomes available. Currently, this is a future release candidate with no eta.

    Thanks,

Hey, I wanted to bring this up again. If any of you would benefit from a Linux ODBC driver, can you vote for Enhancement 112864? Thanks!

Bumping up since I voted for this. Sad to see this hasn’t gone anywhere in 6 years.
