    I had an admin get a little field-happy and now I've got a bunch of fields that I don't need…

    It appears to be locked and I don't have the option to delete. Is there any way to get rid of it or at the very least edit the name to avoid confusion?

    When/why do these get locked in the first place? Do they get locked after a certain amount of time or once the field receives data.

    I am assuming you have a sandbox and it is from a bundle? Or the field is from a vendor supplied bundle?

    If your bundle, you should be able to unlock on sandbox and update on live. If from a vendor, a quick and dirty… Create a new tab that you do not display and move the fields to that tab.

    Well, I do have some from bundles that I would like to remove, but the one I'm talking about was created just in the built-in field creator (Customization > Lists, Records and Fields > Item Fields > New)

    Yep. That second one did the job. It was part of a fieldset. I'm now able to delete it.
