I've come across this at least three times and I've never been able to come up with the answer. How do you import CSV data that contains sublist data, especially with multiple values in that sublist????

I have created a list (Intended Use) and those intended uses can be attached to an item record as a Multiple Select custom field so we can set intended uses for items.

I've tried 100 different ways to format the file and checked/unchecked "Overwrite Sublist data", but for the life of me, I can't ever import items with multiple intended uses (Use 1, Use 2, Use 3).

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO DO THIS????

OK, I actually figured this out randomly today.

The default way is to use the pipe character (|) between the values in the field you want to assign (no spaces, just the pipe).

So in my Intended Use case above, the column in the CSV would have the values Use 1|Use 2|Use 3

It's actually listed under Advanced Options on the 2nd step of the import as "CUSTOM MULTI-SELECT VALUE DELIMITER".

Hopefully this will save someone the hours of their life that I wasted…
