I know this questions has been asked before, and I've looked over all the threads about it, but for the life of me, I can't make it work. I'm trying to import related items for all of my items that currently display on my website, so I'm basically re-importing my items, but only updating the related item fields.

I've just been trying to do a quick test with one item and I can't even find the fields that other threads and the NS documentation is referencing. Can somebody give me a quick tutorial on how to do it or point me in the right direction? Even help on how to format my CSV file would be helpful, cuz I'm pretty sure mine's not going to do it: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4281008/test-import.csv

Any help provided would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    RE: Importing related items?

You have to use 'Items Items' and then use the 'Store Display Name' (not the 'item name/number')

    See this thread

Yeah, I've read that thread, but I don't even see "Items Items" anywhere. Where is it?

    RE: Importing related items?

OK, I've figured this out. As with most things in NetSuite, this section is badly named (and not the same as it says in the documentation).

For anyone else who has this same problem (and because I can't find this information anywhere), here's what worked for me:

Create your CSV file in Excel, give the columns the following names: Internal ID, Store Display Name, Item 1: Item, Item 1: Type, Item 2: Item, Item 2: Type, Item 3: Item, Item 3: Typeโ€ฆ and so on, having an item/type pair for however many related items you want to have for each item.
Under each Item: Item, use the Store Display Name for each item you want to make a related item.
Save as a CSV from Excel (obviously)
Use the Import Assistant to import your items as Items>Inventory Item. Click "Next"
Select "Add or Update" on the next screen and check "Overwrite Sublists" under Advanced Options. Click "Next"
Here's where I got lost previously. The problem is that the fields you need aren't available under the menu that's expanded by default on the right (or called what it says they are in the documentation). Scroll to the very bottom and look for "Item Presentation Items"
You'll want to click the plus sign next to that to create the same number of item/type pairs that you have for your maximum number of related items.
Once you've done that, you can map your fields from your CSV to these values, using the item/type pairings you created
I went ahead and clicked the pencil next to each Item Type and set the default to "Item," just because I wasn't too confident in what I had put in my CSV
Click "Next" and run your import

This is just worked for me, so hopefully it's the correct procedure. At the very least, I hope it will provide a starting point for people who have been searching how to do this and come up with nothing (like myself, previously). Good luck!
