    Hi,

Please does anyone knows how to import 100s of postal code currently on excel spreadsheet into sales rules > customer FIELD RULES> sub-criteria without having to enter them manually.

I’m creating some sales rules but have 100s of postcode to entered on the system.

Do you know how to assign specific postcodes to a sales reps without having to create a territory per sales rep as there are many postcodes in the region but sales rep should not share territories however have one territory per region.

Region will have many sales rep.

I do not believe there is any way to import anything into Sales Rules are the moment.

You basically do need to create 1 territory per rep, defining all of the codes in the territory – unless you can define your territories with something else than Postal Codes (cities maybe).

The only other option I see would be to use scripting to build your own sales rep assigning script, instead of using Netsuite’s. I’ve done it before, but you do have to consider what is better for you – using a script or adding hundred of postal codes manually. If it’s just one big up-front effort, as annoying as it is to do this manually, temps/interns are a pretty cheap way to get it done. If you’re going to be making changes often and this will require constant and long manual corrections, you might be better off with a script.

We are doing this right now. Using the first three digits of the ZIP. I tested one group it worked but need to do more testing. Look forward to any other cheats that are shared

Zips are a bit easier because you can set beginnign zip and end zip on territories, making contiguous ranges easy.

Postal Codes don’t work that way. The only advantage is when you write to Santa Claus you can send them to postal code H0H 0H0.

We define sales territories by zip code and I was told by NetSuite and solution providors that it can’t be done using the standard NetSuite tool since you can’t import them. Ranges don’t help either. We created a custom table/record for all the zips in the US and mapped them to sales reps. With the custom record we can use the CSV import tool. A little scripting does the assignment of new leads.

It sure seems like there would be a better option for using zip codes. What I don’t get is that in the financials (for tax codes) there is the option to select a county and then NetSuite defines the area using zipcodes. If that type of functionality is there then why can’t it be available for sales rules?

I am almost done manually entering the zip codes for all our sales rules. The process was horribly tedious and time consuming and not easily maintainable.
