mbouchardRE: How to clear item Site Category field using CSV
Hi Kent,
I think that under the “Advanced Options” you just need to check “Overwrite Missing Fields”. Then just include an empty column in your CSV file for the field you want to clear.
Best Regards,
Mike

Mike,
I wish you suggestion would work, but it doesn’t.
I did further research and in
CSV Imports Guide
December 14, 2010
Version 2010.2.0
I found: Complete deletion of sublist data currently is not supported. Existing sublist data can only be overwritten with new CSV file sublist data, not with an absence of CSV file sublist data.
Looks like I am stuck without a solution.

nugkentRE: How to clear item Site Category field using CSV
Netsuite support was able to provide a solution to this issue.
I was able to clear the Site Category field on over 500 items using CSV import.
The Netsuite support rep asked for a sign off from me via email prior to providing the steps necessary due to mass update affect on many records (irreversable).
So I am respecting their concern and not specifing the solution here.
Therefore, all I can say is that a CSV import for clearing item’s Site Category field does exist.
Contact support online for the answer.
Thanks Netsuite

nugkentThis always works for me.
1st. Make sure your CSV file has these two fields Internal ID and Site Category (Internal ID must be the Internal ID of the item, and Site Category must be empty)
2nd. on step 2 (Import Options) of the Import, select Update and in the Advance Options have Overwrite Sublists checked.
3rd. on step 3 Maping. Map Internal ID to Internal ID and Site Category to Site Category 1 : Site Category.

Is there any way to completely clear the Site Category field from hundreds of inactive items using CSV?
Hi Nukent,
I’m trying to accomplish something similar, we re-structured our website and created New Categories, as everything was redirected to the new categories I deleted the old Categories. However when we bring up the faceted navigation by doing an empty search i can still find quite a few old SUB categories. I tried to go through the Site Category page but couldn’t see anything – Tried to do a search but using the Category field, but that doesn’t bring anything up either.
I don’t know how I can quickly find all the categories and remove them as you have mentioned below.
Any help appreciated,
Regards,
