Seems like it should be simple enough, but after 90 minutes of testing and reading…..I’m just not getting it. adding of columns, and the ultimate filtering is just not common sense.

I opened the comparative income stmt and removed the 2 variance columns.

Wouldn’t it be sweet if we could just “copy” a column and its related filter. Then edit that “copy” to the year we need.

Apparently not . . . . so, I admit stupidly….can someone tell me where to go to learn all the steps to add add’l years to the comparative income statement?

Just keep adding the “amount” column to the report. you can add it several times and have different date ranges for each column.

    You have done this?

Because, I cannot get add’l date ranges. Only options appear to be: this year, and last year.

No “two years ago, and three years ago”,

and no way to add a filter on those add’l 3rd and 4th year back to specify Jan – Dec of those years.

The way it appears is that I have to add the amount column, then I have to add a filter for THAT column to specify the date range. Then repeat for the 4th column.

I have the columns added, but cannot see how to specify the date ranges for them.

RE: how to add add’l yrs to the comparative income stmt…

    Hi Angelika,

Under Edit Columns section, are you setting “Alternate Date Range Type” to “Relative to Report Date (or Today’s date)” instead of “None”, and then inserting your applicable dates?

If you need help with this, feel free to contact me directly for a free web meeting to resolve this for you.

    .

Have set “relative to report date”. but instead of allowing me to insert applicate dates, NS gives me a drop down box of choices, such as “last….next….previous….same…

Inother words there are no date fields presented to me.

finally got a report by adding the amt column, the selecting:

    last fiscal year

fiscal year before last for the 3rd column

three fiscal years ago for the 4th column

but that is for 12 months….

    need a “to date” report.

    last fiscal year TO DATE

fiscal year before last TO DATE for the 3rd column

three fiscal years ago TO DATE for the 4th column

puts 1/1/yy-1/1/yy in those 3 comparative columns, and of course on 1/1/yy there are no sales….should be 1/1/yy to todays date…right?

each time I try, I move ahead. but truly being able to specify the date for each column is a common sense approach.

When you set “Alternate Date Range Type” field to “Relative to today’s date”, you can then select “custom” under the Alternate Date Range field, and then enter the “From” and To” dates.

sometimes laying away in bed at time does solve problems. I’ve been trying to edit the Comparative stmt. last night i wondered if i shouldn’t be using the income stmt (not comparative). So, did everything I’ve learned so far (thank you), and that custom option does show up here, and the date fields do appear here. I now have EXACTLY the report I need!

Thank You for keeping me at this!
