    Hi,

Our marketing team needs to manage (add or rename or remove existing options) four drop-down fields on an Item record and 5-6 drop-down field options on a Sales Force record.

The only straightforward way I know is to give the role permission of Lists -> Setup -> Custom Lists (Edit).

But giving this permission provide this role the ability to edit any Lists in our NetSuite account -> which we ideally want to avoid.

Is there any way we can restrict the edit access for this role for only specific Lists?

We want to provide them the ability to manage the options for only the fields their team manage.

What kind of list are these? If they are custom lists, you could convert them to custom records and then change the “Access Type” to “Use Permissions List” and then add their role to the list. You cannot make it employee specific. You will have to also give people access to the list that also need to view it.

I would try this with a new custom field and list before you try it on one of your existing lists.

Hi zackb22, thank you for the suggestion. These are custom lists. Even if I convert them to a custom record then I will still have to give the role a custom record permission which means I am back to square one.

The custom record permission will given them access to not only the four records in question, but also all other custom records in the system.

Basically, if we have 20 custom lists in our NetSuite then I want them to be able to edit only 4 of them. That is what I am trying to achieve.

You would give permission from that record and then you would remove that global custom record permission in their role. This would allow you to let them view all of them and only edit 4 of them, without giving the role permission for all custom lists.

    zackb22, thank you! This helped.

I can see that after implementing this, the “List” section of the record type is editable for for only this field that I tested for the role. Other record types that has list of records can be viewed but cannot be edited.

Another thing to note is that the owner of the record will always have access to edit it.
