I have a custom item number field on my serial records that I use to track the # hours on a given machine. I’ve tried to move my maint reporting into Netsuite, so I have a custom record created where I enter the item, then serial # and what I’d like to do is pull the hours from that serial #. When I create my custom field, however, I have no option to source custom fields on the serial record. I then tried to do this via workflow, but the field wasn’t available inside the workflow interface either. I then tried to use a formula in the workflow, {custrecord_serial_field.custitemnumber_hours}, but for some reason the internal id of the item number record is getting populated instead of the decimal value in that field.

Is this just a limitation in NS, or is there something I’m doing incorrectly?

    Thanks,

Update: Oddly enough the same formula failing in workflow, works if I set the formula in the field. Unfortunately I can’t store value, and it means the values don’t populate until after submit, which won’t work for me.
