A client noticed that the out of the box Sales Order Reports (example: Open Sales Orders) did not have amounts for some line items. In doing some investigation, this is due to the fact that Sales Order reports seem to only show component items when a kit is used. I understand why there is no price when component items are displayed (if the price of the kit changes, it would be difficult to “roll down” the proportionate price to the components), but I was hoping there was some way to bring the Kit item, kit quantity and selling price onto a sales order report as this is what the client would like to see.

I tried modifying various reports and even tried building reports from scratch starting with the Open Sales Orders and Sales Order Transactions views, but was still not able to make the Kit items appear. I tried the Transactions view, but this only shows posting transactions and therefore not Sales Orders. Is there a way to bring this into a report that I’m missing? I’ve already been able to do so via Saved Search, but this client really would like the information to appear on a report as executives are looking at this information and reports are more aesthetically pleasing.

    Thanks.

Saved searches offer a format option to build a ‘report-like’ view. Alternatively, I am sure there are ways to fetch this information on Advanced PDF. If the client must have that, those options may be worth exploring.
