I sell valves for engines both as “singles” and as “full sets”

Right now i have all of the “single” part numbers entered into my system.

I would like to export the list of “single” part numbers and add a suffix onto them like “-8” and reupload them as kit items.

I tried to import kit items using the import assistant assuming that you would just use a separate column for the child part number, and qty of that child. Then use the “item members” folder to the right of the import assistant.

Ive tried using the part number as well as the ID of the child and it keeps giving me an error of “Invalid Reference Key” for the “Item” field of “Item Members”

What should be in that field?

Does your Member Items have “Sub Item of” ?

If it does, it needs to be in the format “Sub Item of” plus the member “Item Name/Number”.

I’m not sure if this is what you have.

    Example:

    Member item

    Item name/number: “Single1”

    Sub Item Of: “Engine Valves”

Member item to add: “Engine Valves : Single1”

Is each kit a quantity of 8 of a single item or a group of multiple items?

Another idea is to use “unit or measure” for a “case” and setup quantity pricing scheduled.

I think you have to use the items number not its internal ID.
