Our sales people create user notes to comment on the status and activity surrounding a quote or a sales order. We would like to carry over the information from the user notes that were created on the quote to the sales order so that the sales reps do not have to duplicate their work.

I haven’t been successful in creating a sublist saved search on a sales order that can access user notes from the quote. I think there might be a solution through a workflow, but you can’t create a new User Note record through a workflow.

We may have to go back to just entering notes into a text area field and have that carry over to the sales order, but we found that practice to be messy in the past, as it is difficult to see who entered the info when (besides in the system notes).

    Any ideas to solve this?

I may be wrong but I think all notes might be visible from the Customer Record so instead of having to recreate, just view them from the customer. Attached files to transactions are another matter…

You’re right, they are visible on the customer record. It involves the same amount of toggling between records as going back to the quote to see user notes, so it’s no better either way, unfortunately.

    Good morning,

Here is a way to do it:

    1. Create a new User Note saved searchCriteria:

    – Transaction : Main Line is True

    Results

    – Select columns you want to display

    Available Filters

    – Transaction : Internal ID

    2. Create a SublistGo to Customization-Forms-Sublists

    Go to Transaction tab.

Select your newly created saved search.

    Tick in the ‘Sale’ box

Scroll all the way to the right and select ‘Created From’ via the ‘Field’ column.

You can then customize your Quote and/or Sales Order forms to change the label, move it to a different tab, etc.

This will display all user notes created for the originating transaction (created from). Ex: If a sales order is created from a Quote, all user notes from this Quote will be displayed on this new sublist.

    Best regards,
