gsfI need each department to view their OWN “Budget v.s. Actual” report. Currently i can give this permission based on roll, but not only does each department see their own budgets, but every department as well. I have set each department roll to “default to own, self, subordinates only” but each department can still see each others budgets.
Am i doing something wrong or can i achieve my goal another way?

AndrewI had the same issues, my work around is to schedule the report to be e-mailed. This works well; though it is not “on demand”. I send them out a few times a month, usually towards the end of the month and at certain points along the close calendar. For more “on demand” reporting I use KPIs and saved searches.

gsfRE: Alow departments to view "Budget VS Acctual" report
Im confused Andrew. The Budged VS Actual is a financial report, so it cannot be emailed. No such option in the customize section. I can’t create a new search since information in a budget vs actual is financial information.
Can you explain step by step what you mean?

Department Restriction on Roles (own and sub-departments only) only works if the Employee record has a defined Department. Check the employee record of the other users and check the Department field found under Info tab(standard form), this field should contain a Department name otherwise, they have the ability to view all departments.

Reports can be emailed. Customize your report with selected filters, rename and Save. If you want to email the result once, use the Email silver button found at the footer of the screen in between Print and Schedule buttons. If you want to email the report results periodically, use the Schedule button instead and set the recurrence (daily, weekly, monthly) under the recurrence tab.

The Employee Record does have department defined for ALL employees. However, despite this each department can see eachothers budgets in the same report. What else could be happening?

Kyle BromleyRE: Alow departments to view "Budget VS Acctual" report
I have a similar problem… Need to provide Department heads access to their P&L’s & Actual vs Budgets. Want them to have access to be able to drill down to transactional data. We only want them to see their Department. They must not be able to take a report & customize it to view other Departments info (ie. Payroll info).
Issues:
1) how do we enable this to be setup. (Standard report accessable from their dashboard).
2) How do we enable a manger who oversees multiple departments, without making him have multiple roles?
In the absence of this, I must Push monthly report to each manager via email of PDF of their dept P&L, fully expanded.
HELP Please..

Ping…..
We are looking into this same issues of restricting the report to the manager’s department, or at least defaulting the report to their department so they don’t have to customize the filters. Right now we are setting up a seperate report per department.
Anyone got any ideas on this? The emailing out reports could work but you’d still have to create multiple reports so the manager only receives their department data.
