TyRxITHi,
I would like to add new contacts to existing customers.
When I’m using: “Contacts only” – it seems like I need to match the exact company name, in our case:
if our ID is “C1001” and the name is: “XYZ, Inc” then I must specify:
“C1001 XYZ, Inc.” in the mapping to Company field for it to work…
The above is a pain… why can’t I choose Internal or External ID of the customer and it will link the contact to it?
—————————–
If I use “Customers with Contacts” – It errors with:
“Please enter value for: Company” – I don’t want to include company, it’s already in the system, I just want to add the contact info…
Please help!
Thanks,
Yosi

george.panaritisIs this having the company field mapped? It is not a mandatory field, you should be able to remove it from the mapping when doing your import.
When using “Customers And Contacts Together”, all you would need is your existing customer’s Internal ID, choose Update, map the Internal ID to the one in your file and then map your contact fields.

TyRxITWorked! Thank You… key word could be “update”… I probably chose “Add” instead, which trigers the requirement for company name…
Thanks again

You can actually use the internal id or the external id of the customer record. You just need to change the referencing in the mapping (pencil icon next to the field mapping)
By default NetSuite uses the Name/ID value for referencing other records.

TyRxITRE: Adding Contacts to Customers
Thanks, looks like it works!
Now, when I choose the “Customer” route & have multiple contacts…
Is there a way to add them automatically?
I don’t want to do “Contact1”, “Contact2”, etc… manually (the customer might already have a contact1 in place which I don’t want to overwrite)
Thanks!

OniNoKamiYou can add multiple contacts to a company using the Contacts import. If the contacts are already in NetSuite, you can do a Contact update import. The file you will use should have the internal id/external id of the Contact record and the internal/external id of the customer record. So your file will look something like this:
Contact Record Company Record
Contact A Company 1
Contact A Company 2
Contact B Company 3
Once the import is finished, when you look at Contact A record in NetSuite, it will be associated to both Company 1 and Company 2
